Dito da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino Velasco having to interfere. Válbson Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Ciro Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Horizonte Futebol Clube's Samuel Tinoco got a free kick in the 14th minute. After some careless play in the Coribe defense, Dito da Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albertino Velasco. The Coribe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albertino Velasco should have stopped the shot. Válbson Garcia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Ciro Sampaio made a huge save. Coribe's Thomás Pires got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Gonçalo Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Coribe booed when Horizonte Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Lucas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Samuel Tinoco hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. After 40 minutes, Zé Paulo Moura mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coribe and the Horizonte Futebol Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Coribe's Zé Paulo Moura got a free kick in the 40th minute. Thomás Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Sampaio having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Gonçalo Sá made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Gonçalo Sá shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Válbson Garcia came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Coribe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Válbson Garcia couldn't finish the play. Coribe's Gonçalo Sá got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 56 minutes, Dito da Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Horizonte Futebol Clube and the Coribe players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Horizonte Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Dito da Fonseca hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Coribe's Claudinho Campidelis tried to score from far away in the 56th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Augusto Arruda kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Válbson Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Ciro Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 62 played minutes Horizonte Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Dito da Fonseca. After having played for 63 minutes, Válbson Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Coribe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Válbson Garcia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Válbson Garcia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ciro Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Válbson Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. During the 74th minute of the match Dito da Fonseca completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dito da Fonseca a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 74th minute, Dito da Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th match minute, Horizonte Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Carlos Leme to maneuver through the defense. In the 87th minute, Válbson Garcia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 90th minute, Coribe's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after José Augusto Dias fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Horizonte Futebol Clube's Ciro Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonçalo Sá in the 93rd minute of play. In the 95th minute Gonçalo Sá shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
