Sotero FC's Oscar Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amílton Neves in the 3rd minute of play. Luiz Guilherme Cearense was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Noel Paraíba capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Noel Paraíba really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Lucas Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Oscar Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, Sotero FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amílton Neves came free, but Oscar Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lucas Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Oscar Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Sotero FC's Noel Paraíba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Guilherme Cearense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lucas Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Lara having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Luís Duarte got free with Luiz Guilherme Cearense in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Amílton Neves to strike the kick off in the second half. Oscar Lara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amílton Neves's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Noel Paraíba in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luiz Guilherme Cearense saved Montevidio EC from getting behind. With his leg Oscar Lara managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Montevidio EC's Lucas Correia fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Simão Saldanha hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind Montevidio EC's goalkeeper Luiz Guilherme Cearense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Noel Paraíba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Sotero FC's zone, Amílton Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oscar Lara came out of the goal and Amílton Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Oscar Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílton Neves in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute there was a penalty for Sotero FC. Ivo Barros stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luiz Guilherme Cearense. 2-1. Noel Paraíba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Cearense having to interfere. Ivo Barros was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 94 minutes into the match. The goalkeeper, Oscar Lara, was totally fooled by Montevidio EC's Nilton Messias, who 96 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Sotero FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
