Aracatiara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agenor Mesquita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Faustão Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aracatiara's Agenor Mesquita came free and shot a quick shot against goal 12 minutes in the game, fortunately Valdir Teles had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Pedro Luiz Brodel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cipriano Donatello kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Fernão Esteves took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Valdir Teles. Pantanal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Agenor Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Aracatiara getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Manoel Mendonça hit a great ball. Valdir Teles made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Agenor Mesquita sent off a good shot on target. Faustão Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Agenor Mesquita struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Valdir Teles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aracatiara. Faustão Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdir Teles having to interfere. Agenor Mesquita struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Valdir Teles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aracatiara. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michel Cosme made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Aracatiara's Manoel Mendonça got a free kick in the 60th minute. After 63 played minutes Michel Cosme could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 0-2 into the left cross. After 67 played minutes, Aracatiara's Fernão Esteves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Valdir Teles came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Rezende couldn't finish the play. In the 95th minute, one of Aracatiara:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Aracatiara. The referee gave Pantanal a penalty, 98 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ruy Oliveira, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Aracatiara's Carlos Corrêa. 0-4.
