When Celsinho Valadares came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Chopinzinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celsinho Valadares couldn't finish the play. In the 7th minute Celsinho Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clóvis Gomes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zeca Nogueira kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. If Frederico Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frederico Torres in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Alex Amaral hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The supporters of Chopinzinho booed when Avai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chopinzinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frederico Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Dalmo Lira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avai. In the 66th minute, one of Avai:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Avai. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Clóvis Gomes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clóvis Gomes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celsinho Valadares, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Chopinzinho's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
