Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Isaltino de Medeiros started the match with the kick off. The supporters of F.C Santos booed when Pinheiral was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Luiz Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isaltino de Medeiros in the 3rd minute of play forced Pinheiral's goalkeeper Anísio Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisinho Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Schmidt in the 11th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in F.C Santos's zone, Edson Freire stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisinho Donatello came out of the goal and Edson Freire tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 17 minutes into the match, Pinheiral's goal looked a bit too open when Agostinho de Toledo came free, but Anísio Veiga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the game, Elano Meireles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C Santos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pinheiral the free kick. Elano Meireles hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute, Simão de Castro sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Pinheiral's Anísio Veiga didn't even have to move. Pinheiral's Anísio Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Paulo Ribeiro in the 30th minute of play. After 31 minutes, Agostinho de Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C Santos and the Pinheiral players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to F.C Santos getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Agostinho de Toledo hit a great ball. In the 36thth minute of the game Isaltino de Medeiros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pinheiral's Anísio Veiga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elano Meireles in the 42nd minute of play forced Pinheiral's goalkeeper Anísio Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronaldo Schmidt was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the game, Isaltino de Medeiros recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Anísio Veiga. Isaltino de Medeiros showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. In the 60th minute, Luiz Paulo Ribeiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Ronaldo Schmidt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luisinho Donatello was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Simão de Castro lost his temper 65 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 65 minutes into the game, one of F.C Santos:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Pinheiral a penalty, 67 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gilberto Barbosa, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of F.C Santos's Luisinho Donatello. 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Elano Meireles kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Anísio Veiga. That made the score 1-2 in the 72 minute of play. When Ronaldo Schmidt fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pinheiral's protests and gave Ronaldo Schmidt a yellow card for diving instead. Ronaldo Schmidt kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, André Luiz Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anísio Veiga was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Christiano Varela. 82 minutes into the match, Pinheiral's Edson Freire sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luisinho Donatello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Claudinei Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. André Luiz Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. If Telmo Vander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisinho Donatello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edson Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 100th minute, Ronaldo Schmidt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the final whistle sounded F.C Santos left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Pinheiral.
