But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Esteves couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Agudos AD's Dráusio Peixoto got a free kick in the 11th minute. Douglas Bertassi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Percy Pinheiro made a huge save. Vítor Esteves hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Douglas Bertassi struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Percy Pinheiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Agudos AD. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Orlando Fernandes during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anelio's Marcelo da Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Sidney da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th minute, Douglas Bertassi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Douglas Bertassi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dida de Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vítor Esteves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Douglas Bertassi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Percy Pinheiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 49th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidney da Mata made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manoel Pinho in the 59th minute of play forced Agudos AD's goalkeeper Dida de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Douglas Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Percy Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney da Mata in the 63rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Anelio's zone, Douglas Bertassi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Percy Pinheiro came out of the goal and Douglas Bertassi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sidney da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Percy Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Douglas Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Douglas Bertassi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Agudos AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Douglas Bertassi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Percy Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Agudos AD's zone, Vítor Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dida de Senna came out of the goal and Vítor Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Douglas Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
