If Flavinho Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 5 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Sandro Alcântara sped through Badalo EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Afonso Carvalho. Luisão Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Tavares having to interfere. Décio Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Tavares having to interfere. Décio Cearense struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Inácio Tavares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Badalo EC. 17 minutes into the game, Alan Borges was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Badalo EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alagoas the free kick. A collision led to Badalo EC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Alan Borges hit a great ball. Eusébio Mazza lost his temper 21 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 21 minutes into the game, one of Alagoas:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Luciano Coelho walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. When Badalo EC's Décio Cearense in the 26th minute got a chance for a shot 26th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Alagoas's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Badalo EC booed when Alagoas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 28 minutes, Décio Cearense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Badalo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Décio Cearense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Décio Cearense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute Roger Abraão suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 33 minutes into the game, Gilmar Marques was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alagoas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Badalo EC the free kick. In the 33rd minute, Gilmar Marques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sandro Alcântara's late challenge caught a Badalo EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Luisão Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Alagoas's zone, Luisão Chaves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inácio Tavares came out of the goal and Luisão Chaves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luisão Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Tavares having to interfere. Luisão Chaves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Inácio Tavares made a huge save. Flavinho Severo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Afonso Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play.
