The goalkeeper, Germano Travassos, was totally fooled by Jofre's Cafu Nunes, who 20 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 23 minutes into the game, Unick FC's Conrado Arruda nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bernardo Pinheiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Conrado Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Otávio de Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Conrado Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Conrado Arruda blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardo Pinheiro having to make a save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

After a defensive mix-up in Jofre's zone, Conrado Arruda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernardo Pinheiro came out of the goal and Conrado Arruda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Conrado Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Bernardo Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jofre's Bernardo Pinheiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Jofre from getting a goal against them. When Conrado Arruda came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Unick FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Arruda couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Unick FC booed when Jofre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Gaúcho didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Jofre's Bernardo Pinheiro got control of the ball when Vito Paranaense tried to sneak it across the goal line. Unick FC's Germano Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Álvaro Martins in the 82nd minute of play.
