Jaime Mello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bebeto das Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bebeto das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Jaime Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the game, Ulysses Galvão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cacaueira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Xave Gang the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zeca Torres during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 8th match minute, Cacaueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeca Torres to maneuver through the defense. Elói de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Jaime Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zeca Torres got free with Ricardo Berger in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cacaueira's Jaime Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bebeto das Neves in the 18th minute of play. 22 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Xave Gang's Bebeto das Neves fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Xave Gang's Elói de Senna got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Xave Gang's Bebeto das Neves in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cacaueira's goalie prevented a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Gonçalo Ferreira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ricardo Berger. That made the score 1-0 in the 29 minute of play. Gonçalo Ferreira was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 32nd minute. Cacaueira's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Jaime Mello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elói de Senna in the 35th minute of play. Bebeto das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Jaime Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cacaueira's João Paulo Brasil got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute, Elói de Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute of the match Edgar Fernandez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jaime Mello skillfully saved the ball. Cacaueira's Jaime Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bebeto das Neves in the 53rd minute of play. A collision led to Cacaueira getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Carlos Alberto Paes hit a great ball. With a little luck, Cacaueira's Jaime Mello got control of the ball when Elói de Senna tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bebeto das Neves in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jaime Mello prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ricardo Berger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zeca Torres in the 59th minute of the match. In the 65th minute of the match Edgar Fernandez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jaime Mello showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto das Neves in the 68th minute of play forced Cacaueira's goalkeeper Jaime Mello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elói de Senna blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jaime Mello having to make a save. Jaime Mello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto das Neves in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd match minute, Cacaueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sydney Fernandez to maneuver through the defense. Bebeto das Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Bebeto das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zeca Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Ricardo Berger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Gonçalo Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Gonçalo Ferreira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Berger was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Jaime Mello didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bebeto das Neves went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Elói de Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 91 minutes into the game, Bebeto das Neves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Jaime Mello was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Elói de Senna came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Xave Gang fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elói de Senna couldn't finish the play. Xave Gang played a much better game than Cacaueira and deserved their victory. The Cacaueira players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
