After 4 played minutes União Futebol clube got a freekick which was hit by Maicon Massa. 5 minutes into the match, Picaras's Gilvan Pernambucano broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. União Futebol clube's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when César Valadares scored to the left of an out of position Simão Neto, making the score, 1-0. Igor Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Queirós in the 17th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Wilton Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot. União Futebol clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilton Queirós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Igor Salgado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Simão Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from César Valadares in the 25th minute of the match. Fausto Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. União Futebol clube's Simão Neto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Valadares in the 29th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Umberto Leão during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Igor Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilton Queirós in the 33rd minute of the match. The referee ignored União Futebol clube's protests and gave Maicon Massa a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Picaras booed when União Futebol clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maicon Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for César Valadares to strike the kick off in the second half. César Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Simão Neto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Igor Salgado made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Durval Mattos sent off a good shot on target. If César Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 played minutes União Futebol clube got a freekick which was hit by Elivélton Custódio. Simão Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute Fausto Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Durval Mattos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Salgado having to interfere. César Valadares might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Simão Neto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. César Valadares ran back to his position shaking his head. 81 minutes into the match, União Futebol clube's goal looked a bit too open when César Valadares came free, but Simão Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Picaras fans cheered their team off the field, for while União Futebol clube had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
