An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão Tinoco in the 3rd minute of play forced Atibaia's goalkeeper Durvalino Marquez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristóvão Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vânderson Rossi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Toninho de Castro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The supporters of Atibaia booed when Juventude FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aílton Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Cristóvão Tinoco notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Atibaia's Durvalino Marquez. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Vânderson Rossi ran back to his position shaking his head. 73 minutes into the match, Atibaia's goalkeeper Durvalino Marquez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dadá de Brito. If Vânderson Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Dário Faustino put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Toninho de Castro. 81 minutes into the match, Atibaia's goal looked a bit too open when Cristóvão Tinoco came free, but Durvalino Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Atibaia's Ademir Secco got a free kick in the 88th minute. After having played for 93 minutes, Dário Faustino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atibaia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dário Faustino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Toninho de Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perivaldo Trancoso in the 97th minute of the match. Atibaia walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
