Márcio Marques came out of the goal and Válter Rezende tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SANTOS F.C's Márcio Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válter Rezende in the 40th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Válter Rezende in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Márcio Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Válter Rezende made a kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Válter Rezende put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Márcio Marques. Válter Rezende in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Márcio Marques, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A hard shot 60 in the game by Válter Rezende from a close distance when the talented Márcio Marques managed to make a qualified save. SANTOS F.C's players were relieved. In the 65th match minute, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Régis Senna to maneuver through the defense. In the 69th match minute, SANTOS F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Mendes to maneuver through the defense. SANTOS F.C's Márcio Marques proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save SANTOS F.C from getting a goal against them. Tarcisio Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Túlio Catarinense in the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamin Hoffmann in the 76th minute of play forced E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Tarcisio Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tarcisio Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamin Hoffmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Válter Rezende came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Válter Rezende couldn't finish the play. In the 82nd minute, Sydney Andrade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Márcio Marques was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. After 85 played minutes SANTOS F.C got a freekick which was hit by Túlio Catarinense. Sydney Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Válter Rezende's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Márcio Marques was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Sydney Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The SANTOS F.C fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
