After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Kléberson Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athletico FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kléberson Barreto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Donato breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Athletico FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Jean Tróia hit a great ball. In the 12th minute, Ronaldão Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Athletico FC's Arí Negri tried to score from far away in the 13th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Dário Favoretto charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dário Favoretto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Athletico FC's Dário Favoretto got a free kick in the 17th minute. Kléberson Barreto struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Wilson Donato didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athletico FC. Wilson Donato took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kléberson Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléberson Barreto in the 28th minute of play forced Pitimbu SC's goalkeeper Wilson Donato to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Kléberson Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Donato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd match minute, Athletico FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luiz Meirelles to maneuver through the defense. If Magno Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernesto Neiva was a little too slow when César Almeida got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 37th minute. The score was now 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by César Almeida during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 41st minute, César Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The wind increased when Kléberson Barreto made the kick off in the second half. Magno Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilson Donato didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jean Tróia went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Pitimbu SC's zone, Kléberson Barreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Donato came out of the goal and Kléberson Barreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jean Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Wilson Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vitório Vides during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th minute, Vitório Vides hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Athletico FC booed when Pitimbu SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldão Salgado didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jean Tróia came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Athletico FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Tróia couldn't finish the play. Ernesto Neiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from César Almeida in the 77th minute of the match. The supporters of Pitimbu SC booed when Athletico FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Eduardo Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Athletico FC's Jean Tróia got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jean Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
