Manfredo Zonta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 13 minutes, Murillo Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costaneira SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo Lara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 20 minutes, Dário Favoretto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Athletico FC and the Costaneira SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dário Favoretto kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. The supporters of Costaneira SS booed when Athletico FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Eduardo Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jean Tróia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfredo Zonta having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Kléberson Barreto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Manfredo Zonta. That made the score 2-0 in the 30 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Costaneira SS's Dráusio Negri got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute of the match Arí Negri shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Manfredo Zonta showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kléberson Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Manfredo Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Kléberson Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athletico FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kléberson Barreto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manfredo Zonta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes into the match, Athletico FC's Kléberson Barreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Manfredo Zonta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Luiz Eduardo Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athletico FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Eduardo Mangueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Athletico FC's André Reis got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Costaneira SS's Eusébio Andrade slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ernesto Neiva. That made the score 3-1 after 68 minutes of play. In the 76thth minute of the game Kléberson Barreto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costaneira SS's Manfredo Zonta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dário Favoretto in the 78th minute of play forced Costaneira SS's goalkeeper Manfredo Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Costaneira SS's goalkeeper Manfredo Zonta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, Costaneira SS's goal looked a bit too open when Jean Tróia came free, but Manfredo Zonta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfredo Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean Tróia in the 87th minute of the match. In the 91st minute Kléberson Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfredo Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manfredo Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean Tróia, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. If Murillo Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Athletico FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
