Iacu's Luan Tasso got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dagoberto Brasil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilson de Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. When Gilson de Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Belomonte fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilson de Carvalho couldn't finish the play. Gilson de Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Iacu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Belomonte the free kick. The supporters of Iacu booed when Belomonte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Fernando Loyola didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luan Tasso to make the kick off. David Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fred Severo got free with Dagoberto Brasil in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dagoberto Brasil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilson de Carvalho in the 89th minute of play. Amílton Mattos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kiko Garcia's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Kiko Garcia scored 2-1 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Amílton Mattos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 99 minutes into the match, Belomonte's goal looked a bit too open when Luan Tasso came free, but Amílton Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Belomonte's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
