Luiz Fabiano Paraíba hit a great ball. Alberto Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramón Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bracinho's Dino Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. André Luiz Vinhas's late challenge caught a Bracinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. André Luiz Vinhas helped the player get up and apologised. After 26 played minutes Itatiaia FC got a freekick which was hit by André Luiz Vinhas. Raphael Faria's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alberto Barreto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Itatiaia FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Elano Fonseca fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Dino Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Donatello having to interfere. A well-hit corner resulted in Ernesto Fernandez heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 82nd minute Dino Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidney Donatello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
