The audience was convinced that Digo Santana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erasmo de Toledo was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Tapaiuna SC's Nilton Paulista slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Erasmo de Toledo. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Nilton Paulista hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute, one of Tapaiuna SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Tapaiuna SC. Denílson Baptista hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Ciro Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo de Toledo having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Digo Santana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo de Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Tapaiuna SC's goal looked a bit too open when Agnaldo Lira came free, but Bruninho Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Tapaiuna SC's Digo Santana in the 38th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Erasmo de Toledo was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Inesopolis FC through an amazing save. The supporters of Tapaiuna SC booed when Inesopolis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson Baptista didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Bruninho Aguiar made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Amauri Barbosa sent off a good shot on target. 63 minutes into the game, Tapaiuna SC's Digo Santana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Erasmo de Toledo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agnaldo Lira in the 66th minute of play forced Tapaiuna SC's goalkeeper Bruninho Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tapaiuna SC were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Inesopolis FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vítor Recife took the corner. Frédson Linares tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Erasmo de Toledo. An unnecessary self made goal, 3-1 in the 71st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Agnaldo Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inesopolis FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Agnaldo Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruninho Aguiar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 77 minutes into the match, Tapaiuna SC's goalkeeper Bruninho Aguiar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amauri Barbosa. Tapaiuna SC's Bruninho Aguiar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Tapaiuna SC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agnaldo Lira in the 86th minute of play forced Tapaiuna SC's goalkeeper Bruninho Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Digo Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, Digo Santana left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tapaiuna SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Tapaiuna SC had won after a very even match.
