The referee ignored Itacutiara's protests and gave Jairo Santana a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Guarany FC booed when Itacutiara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Santana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jailson Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guarany FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jailson Madureira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frédson Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jairo Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Frédson Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jailson Madureira, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute.
