Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Wilian Zilles got the match started through his kick off. Jefferson Alvarenga hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Cássio Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Edinho Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The attack was good, but when Válbson Leite in the 18th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rubinho Tinoco during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Congonhas's Rubinho Tinoco got a free kick in the 21st minute. Congonhas's Dito Vidal shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Carlos Alberto Freitas but with some difficulty. Carlos Alberto Freitas made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Válbson Leite sent off a good shot on target. In the 31st minute Wilian Zilles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Alberto Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osmar de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edinho Martins having to interfere. Rubinho Tinoco kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. A collision led to Congonhas getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Carlos Augusto Cerezo hit a great ball. If Wilian Zilles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válbson Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Freitas having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cássio Almeida stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rubinho Tinoco was shown his second yellow card after 56 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Osmar de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Edinho Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cássio Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson Leite in the 66th minute of play forced Varedao's goalkeeper Carlos Alberto Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Válbson Leite's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Alberto Freitas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. If Wilian Zilles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Carlos Augusto Cerezo came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Congonhas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Augusto Cerezo couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Congonhas's Edinho Martins got control of the ball when Osmar de Queiroz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wilian Zilles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Freitas having to interfere. Carlos Alberto Freitas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Válbson Leite's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Carlos Augusto Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Carlos Alberto Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 played minutes Varedao got a freekick which was hit by Renato Hoffmann. Varedao's Cássio Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Válbson Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Varedao's Carlos Alberto Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Válbson Leite in the 94th minute of play. Carlos Alberto Freitas came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Congonhas's Válbson Leite. But to his dismay, Válbson Leite quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Congonhas's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
