Donatello Freitas came out of the goal and Ismael Bueno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elói Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 13th minute, Juvenal de Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tejupa's Donatello Freitas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Tejupa from getting a goal against them. 15 minutes into the game, Ivo Mendes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tejupa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iguape the free kick. 14 minutes into the game, one of Tejupa:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Donatello Freitas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Tejupa's Chico Tinoco got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deivid Massa in the 34th minute of play forced Iguape's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elói Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Donatello Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chico Tinoco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Luís Fábio Favoretto made a huge save. When Ismael Bueno came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Iguape fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ismael Bueno couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Iguape were the better team. Iguape's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
