Sílvio Luiz Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué de Moraes, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Sílvio Luiz Braga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

52 minutes into the game, Edu Amorim was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians Paulista's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ipiabanha EC the free kick. After 52 played minutes Corinthians Paulista got a freekick which was hit by Edu Amorim. Sílvio Luiz Braga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kiko Medeiros in the 55th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Josué de Moraes in the 59th minute of play forced Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Sílvio Luiz Braga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Júlio Alvarenga scored 3-0 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sílvio Luiz Braga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Josué de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
