The referee ignored Guaporanga EC's protests and gave Flavinho Mattos a yellow card for diving instead. Flavinho Mattos hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Japira's Wesley de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavinho Mattos in the 24th minute of play. A collision led to Guaporanga EC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Cacá Esteves hit a great ball. In the 55th minute of the match Ronaldinho Carioca shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benê Velasco showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jailson de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Benê Velasco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Pedrinho da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guaporanga EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedrinho da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesley de Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedrinho da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley de Queirós having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Japira's Tony Pernambucano got a free kick in the 67th minute. The audience was convinced that Pedrinho da Fonseca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wesley de Queirós was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. In the 70thth minute of the game Flavinho Mattos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Japira's Wesley de Queirós was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho da Fonseca in the 72nd minute of play forced Japira's goalkeeper Wesley de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
