Ipiabas's Jarbas Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franklin Linares in the 28th minute of play. Cafu Matorin hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. The supporters of Limeirinha booed when Ipiabas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toninho Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benê Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Franklin Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jarbas Salgado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Haroldo Peres was the one to do the kick off. Benê Travassos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Jarbas Salgado made a huge save. If Benê Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jarbas Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franklin Linares in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gino Arósio in the 66th minute of play forced Limeirinha's goalkeeper Perivaldo Seco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute, Dário Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Haroldo Peres took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Perivaldo Seco. Perivaldo Seco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Ipiabas's Jarbas Salgado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Ipiabas from getting a goal against them. 78 minutes into the match, Ipiabas's goal looked a bit too open when Franklin Linares came free, but Jarbas Salgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benê Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Salgado having to interfere. After 81 played minutes Franklin Linares rounded Ipiabas's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. With a little luck, Ipiabas's Jarbas Salgado got control of the ball when Benê Travassos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Perivaldo Seco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Haroldo Peres's shot from short distance in the 89th minute.
