In the 24th minute, Manoel Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Pena in the 28th minute of play forced Simonsen AD's goalkeeper Túlio Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Gustavo Prado was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Alegrete EC's goal looked a bit too open when Vinícius Cunha came free, but Adalberto Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Túlio Senna was a little too slow when Luiz Gustavo Prado got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 1-1. Through an outstanding action, after 60 minutes, Túlio Senna successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The referee gave Alegrete EC a penalty, 70 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Carlos Fernando Baiano, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Simonsen AD's Túlio Senna. 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudinei Pena got free with Túlio Senna in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Luiz Gustavo Prado took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Túlio Senna to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Alegrete EC's Paulo Renato Fonseca got a free kick in the 78th minute. Claudinei Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Túlio Senna having to interfere. Claudinei Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Túlio Senna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Claudinei Pena came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Alegrete EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudinei Pena couldn't finish the play.
