The supporters of Atlético Sapiranga booed when Caitinga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Igor Fernandez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caitinga's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Raimundo Carioca scored to the left of an out of position Natã Pires, making the score, 1-0. 22 minutes into the match, Atlético Sapiranga's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Favoretto came free, but Aírton Diniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raimundo Carioca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Natã Pires made a huge save. Natã Pires made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raimundo Carioca in the 28th minute. After a rather tough play, Caitinga's Doni Gerber got a free kick in the 34th minute. Natã Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Caitinga's Natã Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Paulo Fantini in the 36th minute of play. Natã Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Marco Favoretto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for João Paulo Fantini to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes, Atlético Sapiranga's Nildo Quirino shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Natã Pires came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Atlético Sapiranga reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vítor do Valle during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vítor do Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Ademar Schmidt's late challenge caught a Caitinga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ademar Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Atlético Sapiranga getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Ademar Schmidt hit a great ball. Marco Favoretto might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aírton Diniz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marco Favoretto ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Sapiranga's goalkeeper Aírton Diniz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marco Favoretto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 82ndth minute tested the skills of Aírton Diniz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Décio Rosado charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Décio Rosado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 85 played minutes Caitinga got a freekick which was hit by Décio Rosado. Natã Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Carioca in the 86th minute of the match. 90 minutes into the match, Caitinga's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo Carioca came free, but Natã Pires reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute of the match Nildo Quirino sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Natã Pires skillfully saved the ball. Ernesto Donato blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aírton Diniz having to make a save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 93 minutes into the game, when Raphael Pimenta put in a rough tackle. In the 94th minute, Raphael Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute of the match Marco Favoretto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aírton Diniz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Atlético Sapiranga were victorious despite being under pressure from Caitinga for much of the match.
