A collision led to Pitangui SS getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Deivid Medeiros hit a great ball. FC Estrela Vermelha's Roch Luty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Pombal in the 19th minute of play. Roch Luty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 24 played minutes Pitangui SS got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fabiano Travassos. After 27 minutes, Kléberson Gomes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Estrela Vermelha and the Pitangui SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Pitangui SS booed when FC Estrela Vermelha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléberson Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Kléberson Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Estrela Vermelha's supporters rose to their feet, but Kléberson Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nuno Lara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roch Luty made an important save on a dangerous shot by Willian Vasconcelos in the 39th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elias Pombal made a kick off. Pitangui SS's Nuno Lara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Pitangui SS from getting a goal against them.
