Edgard Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivo Neto having to interfere. Durval Paraibano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thomás Cearense's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. After 11 played minutes, Marretas AD's Rodriguinho Carioca shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Durval Paraibano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Marretas AD reached it. Dorival Luz charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dorival Luz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dorival Luz hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. When Edgard Duarte got free in front of the goal in the 16th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Ivo Neto was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Ariau's Doriva Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In a very dangerous position, a player in Marretas AD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 22nd minute. Penalty! Belmiro da Mata shot the penalty kick right outside the post. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Marretas AD's Moisés Lucas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 95th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Durval Paraibano but with some difficulty. Ariau's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
