With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sílvio Barreto in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olívio Antunes saved Serrania from getting behind. Olívio Antunes made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Fred Mota sent off a good shot on target. Sílvio Duarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elias Cavalcante's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Sílvio Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Cavalcante in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Afonsinho Araújo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th minute, Elias Cavalcante made a precise shot to the right of Sílvio Duarte. Taciateua's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 38th minute, Elias Cavalcante got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 42 minutes in the game, Fred Mota fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Olívio Antunes having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sílvio Barreto was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Taciateua booed when Serrania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonsinho Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Elias Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th match minute, Taciateua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Pombal to maneuver through the defense. Serrania's Alfredinho Moura was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sílvio Duarte in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Sílvio Duarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Almir Messias's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. If Fred Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olívio Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Barreto in the 77th minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Taciateua's goalkeeper Sílvio Duarte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oswaldo Pinheiro. Sílvio Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Almir Messias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elias Cavalcante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Sílvio Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Serrania eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
