Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Jânio Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edu Recife was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. Kroeff's Edu Recife proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Kroeff from getting a goal against them. In the 13th minute, Jânio Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jânio Coutinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Edu Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Jânio Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edu Recife was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. 23 minutes into the match, Kroeff's goal looked a bit too open when Jânio Coutinho came free, but Edu Recife reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 25 played minutes Kroeff got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Cerezo. Muruja's Caco Félix got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Caco Félix received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Edu Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amauri de Amorim hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Vicente Cerezo hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 37th minute, Muruja's Jânio Coutinho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edu Recife. Edu Recife yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Edu Recife stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jânio Coutinho's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. Caco Félix received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Edu Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jânio Coutinho in the 47th minute of play forced Kroeff's goalkeeper Edu Recife to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vicente Cerezo was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Jânio Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Muruja's supporters rose to their feet, but Jânio Coutinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edu Recife breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Caco Félix sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caco Félix's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edu Recife read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. The supporters of Muruja booed when Kroeff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 67 minutes, Jânio Coutinho made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Kroeff's Edu Recife tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Edu Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Félix in the 74th minute of play. Kroeff's Edu Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jânio Coutinho in the 76th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Jânio Coutinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edu Recife was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Jânio Coutinho took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edu Recife. Edu Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Kroeff's Edu Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Félix in the 84th minute of play. If Jânio Coutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jânio Coutinho might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edu Recife. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jânio Coutinho ran back to his position shaking his head. There was no doubt that Muruja were the better team. Muruja's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
