Gilberto Travassos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mathias Borges showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 24 minute of play. Gilberto Travassos made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Eliézer de Senna sent off a good shot on target. In the 28thth minute of the game Mathias Borges who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rodrigues EC's Gilberto Travassos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The supporters of Rodrigues EC booed when Caricaca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Mathias Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caricaca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mathias Borges was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eliézer de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Gilberto Travassos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gilberto Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Borges in the 65th minute of play. If Albertinho Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 72 minutes, Mathias Borges made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side.
