Pessoa AD's Samuel Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cléberson da Silva in the 10th minute of play. If Cléberson da Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Pessoa AD's Carlinhos Viana got a free kick in the 12th minute. Samuel Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubinho Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aníbal Camargo's late challenge caught a Palminopolis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aníbal Camargo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 14th minute, Aníbal Camargo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Samuel Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cléberson da Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 19th minute Cléberson da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palminopolis's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Wanderson Guedes scored to the left of an out of position João Augusto Guedes, making the score, 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some careless play in the Palminopolis defense, Wanderson Guedes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Augusto Guedes. The Palminopolis fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Augusto Guedes should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Palminopolis's Marcus Trancoso got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Antônio Carlos Simões sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Palminopolis's João Augusto Guedes didn't even have to move. 62 minutes into the match, Pessoa AD's Wanderson Guedes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Augusto Guedes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 66 minutes, Cléberson da Silva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palminopolis and the Pessoa AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 66th minute, Cléberson da Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wanderson Guedes in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Augusto Guedes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wanderson Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Augusto Guedes having to interfere. Augusto Dante hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Alfredo Garcia, 76 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rubinho Carvalho in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Samuel Santos saved Pessoa AD from getting behind. Wanderson Guedes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aníbal Camargo hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Samuel Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubinho Carvalho in the 83rd minute of the match. Rubinho Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Samuel Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rubinho Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Palminopolis's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
