Sílvio Luís Moreno came out of the goal and Ronaldão do Valle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldão do Valle struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Sílvio Luís Moreno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paiva. If Túlio Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronaldão do Valle's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 33rdth minute, Sílvio Luís Moreno skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a rather tough play, Parangaba SS's César Breckenfeld got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 45th minute, Zé Paulo Linares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, Zé Paulo Linares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Mendonça. Paiva's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Paulo Linares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matheus Gonçalves to make the kick off. If Matheus Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Parangaba SS's Zé Paulo Linares got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Parangaba SS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
