Fabuloso FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cariacica the free kick. A collision led to Fabuloso FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. José Maria do Vale hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the game, Leandro Macedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Betão Ramalho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 15 minutes into the match, Cariacica's goalkeeper Alfredinho Montenegro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodriguinho Breckenfeld. Fabuloso FC's Betão Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmir Leme in the 16th minute of play. Leandro Macedo struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Betão Ramalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cariacica. If Walmir Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fabuloso FC's goalkeeper Betão Ramalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Walmir Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Cariacica booed when Fabuloso FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Walmir Leme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rodriguinho Breckenfeld received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Alfredinho Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Cariacica getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Falcão Rocha hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Sílvio de Queiroz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alfredinho Montenegro was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. 47 minutes into the match, Cariacica's Falcão Rocha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betão Ramalho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Walmir Leme stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The nice shot from Leandro Macedo in the 52ndth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Betão Ramalho had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Alfredinho Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodriguinho Breckenfeld in the 54th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walmir Leme in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Betão Ramalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alfredinho Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodriguinho Breckenfeld in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cariacica's goalkeeper Alfredinho Montenegro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Walmir Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Fabuloso FC's Raphael Brito got a free kick in the 68th minute. If Walmir Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmir Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 88 played minutes Cariacica got a freekick which was hit by Walmir Leme. In the 89thth minute of the game Rodriguinho Breckenfeld who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cariacica's Alfredinho Montenegro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Walmir Leme in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Betão Ramalho saved Fabuloso FC from getting behind.
