Anselmo Tasso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anselmo Tasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diogo Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th match minute, Nacional United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kiko da Mata to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Eduardo Paraibano came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Mucuitu AD's Emílio Peixoto. But to his dismay, Emílio Peixoto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After a rather tough play, Mucuitu AD's Aloísio Loyola got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Nacional United FC's Carlos Eduardo Paraibano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Nacional United FC from getting a goal against them. Mucuitu AD's Anselmo Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diogo Sarmento in the 32nd minute of play. Emílio Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. 38 minutes into the match, Mucuitu AD's goal looked a bit too open when Diogo Sarmento came free, but Anselmo Tasso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Diogo Sarmento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nacional United FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Conrado Valladares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anselmo Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 60th minute, Diogo Sarmento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Conrado Valladares in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anselmo Tasso saved Mucuitu AD from getting behind. Anselmo Tasso made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Diogo Sarmento sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandinho Coelho in the 80th minute of play forced Nacional United FC's goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Nacional United FC booed when Mucuitu AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cipriano Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mucuitu AD's Anselmo Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado Valladares in the 83rd minute of play. Nacional United FC played a much better game than Mucuitu AD and deserved their victory. The Mucuitu AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
