Luís Paulo Donatello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonsinho Alcântara having to interfere. After 22 minutes of play, Pupuri's Douglas Bittencourt made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Afonsinho Alcântara was left in no man's land by his defense there! Washington Botelho struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. João Francisco Gaspar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brasabrantes. Douglas Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Douglas Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th minute, Luís Paulo Donatello made a precise shot to the right of Afonsinho Alcântara. Brasabrantes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. João Francisco Gaspar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Washington Botelho in the 41st minute. The audience was convinced that Laércio Ferreira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Francisco Gaspar was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. When Luizinho Pimenta fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pupuri's protests and gave Luizinho Pimenta a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Pupuri getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Luizinho Pimenta hit a great ball. Washington Botelho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without João Francisco Gaspar having to make a save. If Laércio Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Paulo Donatello stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Brasabrantes's Afonsinho Alcântara got control of the ball when Douglas Bittencourt tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Washington Botelho in the 61st minute of play forced Pupuri's goalkeeper João Francisco Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Brasabrantes's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Donatello came free, but Afonsinho Alcântara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sérgio Arantes hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 69th minute, Giuseppe Messias sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Brasabrantes's Afonsinho Alcântara didn't even have to move. Douglas Bittencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 85 minutes into the game, Valdir Lopes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pupuri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brasabrantes the free kick.
