In the 3rd minute Armindo Pombal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Luís de Azevedo was a little too slow when Armindo Pombal got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 9th minute. The score was now 1-0. Aníbal Tróia was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 12 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Quaraci fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 14 minutes, Matotui's Marcos Guerra got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Luís de Azevedo. After 18 played minutes Matotui got a freekick which was hit by José Abreu. Tibúrcio Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Paraense having to interfere. Luís de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armindo Pombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes into the game, Marcelinho Miranda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Matotui's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quaraci the free kick. The supporters of Quaraci booed when Matotui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelinho Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Quaraci's Luís de Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Quaraci from getting a goal against them. After 28 minutes, Mané Tinoco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Quaraci and the Matotui players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 29 played minutes Quaraci got a freekick which was hit by Mané Tinoco. When José Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Matotui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Abreu couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armindo Pombal in the 36th minute of play forced Quaraci's goalkeeper Luís de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41stth minute of the game Anderson Oliveira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matotui's Fred Paraense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lucas Bezerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Paraense having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

In the 52nd minute, Tibúrcio Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. José Abreu kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Luís de Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelinho Miranda in the 56th minute of play. Lucas Bezerra came free with the goalkeeper in the 60th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Fred Paraense could save by the left post. 65 minutes into the match, Jerônimo Pereira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís de Azevedo. Quaraci's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jerônimo Pereira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Lucas Bezerra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Armindo Pombal's late challenge caught a Quaraci's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Armindo Pombal helped the player get up and apologised. Armindo Pombal hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Lucas Bezerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fred Paraense was a little too slow when Tibúrcio Santos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 3-1. After 81 minutes, Jerônimo Pereira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matotui and the Quaraci players grew even worse after the yellow card. 82 minutes into the game, Tibúrcio Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Quaraci's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matotui the free kick. After 82 played minutes Quaraci got a freekick which was hit by Tibúrcio Santos. In the 84th minute Armindo Pombal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís de Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelinho Miranda in the 85th minute of the match. In the 85th match minute, Quaraci was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vladimir Martins to maneuver through the defense. Marcos Guerra took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luís de Azevedo. Quaraci's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 88 minutes into the game, Matotui's Marcelinho Miranda nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luís de Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Lucas Bezerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Paraense having to interfere. The Matotui players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
