An unexpected shot in the 4th minute by Vito Cardoso got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 5th minute, Zelandia's Edson Baiano ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alfredo Gerber. Alfredo Gerber yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. A collision led to Luzeiro EC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Wágner Paulista hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson Baiano in the 13th minute of play forced Luzeiro EC's goalkeeper Alfredo Gerber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vito Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vito Cardoso got free with Alfredo Gerber in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Ademar Reis fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Luzeiro EC's protests and gave Ademar Reis a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Luzeiro EC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Ademar Reis hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vito Cardoso got free with Alfredo Gerber in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 26th minute of the match Belmiro Prestes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Gerber showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Edson Baiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Luzeiro EC's Christian Secco got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute, Leonel Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Luzeiro EC booed when Zelandia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilton Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Alfredo Gerber managed to avoid a goal in the 42ndth minute, when Zelandia's Vito Cardoso fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Rezende to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Leopoldo Rezende's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edinho Cordeiro was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Alfredo Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Baiano in the 60th minute of play. Vito Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leopoldo Rezende might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edinho Cordeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopoldo Rezende ran back to his position shaking his head. Vito Cardoso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfredo Gerber having to make a save. The supporters of Luzeiro EC booed when Zelandia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Medeiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Christian Secco's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, Edinho Cordeiro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a rather tough play, Luzeiro EC's Ademar Reis got a free kick in the 76th minute. Leopoldo Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edinho Cordeiro having to interfere. Edson Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfredo Gerber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edson Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th match minute, Luzeiro EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademar Reis to maneuver through the defense. The Luzeiro EC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Luzeiro EC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
