Fernandinho de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Léo Toledo's late challenge caught a Villareal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Villareal's Claudinei Souza tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ibipetuba's Reynaldo Paiva proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Ibipetuba from getting a goal against them. Villareal's Claudinei Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Toledo in the 83rd minute of play. Léo Toledo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Claudinei Souza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. If Pedro Paulo Dante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ibipetuba had played much better football throughout.
