In the 18th minute, Ian Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 21 minutes into the game, Delfim Furlan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Denílson Brasil. Delfim Furlan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Ian Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Ian Freire made a precise shot to the right of Leandro Varela. Alicadogênio FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a rather tough play, Alicadogênio FC's Hélio Berger got a free kick in the 30th minute. Afligidos's Glauco Cavalcante got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 34th play minutes Ian Freire shot 1-3, a short shot which went by Leandro Varela and just under the crossbar into goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Glauco Cavalcante in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leandro Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leandro Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Freire in the 42nd minute of the match. Leandro Varela came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Afligidos's Ian Freire. But to his dismay, Ian Freire quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ian Freire stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Emerson Sabóia kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Glauco Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leandro Varela having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Glauco Cavalcante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Afligidos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Glauco Cavalcante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Alicadogênio FC's Emerson Sabóia got a free kick in the 57th minute. Leandro Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Freire in the 58th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glauco Cavalcante got free with Leandro Varela in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Glauco Cavalcante managed to get in a good position for a shot. Afligidos's supporters rose to their feet, but Glauco Cavalcante was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leandro Varela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Emerson Sabóia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Afligidos's Denílson Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delfim Furlan in the 86th minute of play. Evandro Castro hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. When Delfim Furlan came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Alicadogênio FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Delfim Furlan couldn't finish the play. Denílson Brasil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delfim Furlan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Afligidos supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Afligidos would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
