If Ian Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afligidos's Denílson Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jardel Araújo in the 5th minute of play. If David Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jardel Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 11 minutes into the game, Arai's David Lara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Denílson Brasil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Glauco Cavalcante's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Júlio Albuquerque firmly grabbed it by the left post. Luís Guilherme Mineiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Denílson Brasil. Afligidos's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. David Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Denílson Brasil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Afligidos's goal looked a bit too open when Lauro Donato came free, but Denílson Brasil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júlio Albuquerque made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Glauco Cavalcante sent off a good shot on target. 31 minutes in the game, Claudinho Gaspar fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Júlio Albuquerque having to interfere. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Arai's goalkeeper Júlio Albuquerque, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Caetano de Carvalho during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 39 played minutes Arai got a freekick which was hit by Caetano de Carvalho. Glauco Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Albuquerque having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Lauro Donato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ian Freire was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Glauco Cavalcante got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Glauco Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Arai's zone, Glauco Cavalcante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Albuquerque came out of the goal and Glauco Cavalcante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 73rd minute Ian Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute David Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denílson Brasil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Arai's Jardel Araújo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Denílson Brasil. That made the score 1-2 after 82 minutes of play. Júlio Albuquerque showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glauco Cavalcante in the 86th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Afligidos's zone, Jardel Araújo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denílson Brasil came out of the goal and Jardel Araújo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Denílson Brasil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jardel Araújo in the 91st minute. David Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Denílson Brasil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 95 minutes, Jardel Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jardel Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Arai players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
