After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Silvério Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ipuera AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Silvério Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roberto Recife breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Orlando da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ipuera AD's zone, Orlando da Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sidnei Prado came out of the goal and Orlando da Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcos Mello during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Marcos Mello hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvério Mendonça in the 56th minute of play forced Tanaby AD's goalkeeper Roberto Recife to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orlando da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Prado having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
