The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thiago Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frederico Abraão scored 1-0 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Peres, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dino Tande charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dino Tande the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 13th minute, Dino Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute of the match Alexandre Rossi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernando Peres showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Paulo José Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ubatinga SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo José Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Claudinho Paes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 17th minute, Pubas's Frederico Abraão dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. The supporters of Pubas booed when Ubatinga SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandrinho Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandrinho Monteiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Claudinho Paes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sandrinho Monteiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Ubatinga SS's Fernando Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederico Abraão in the 36th minute of play. Claudinho Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo José Terra, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Sandrinho Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ubatinga SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Sandrinho Monteiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Claudinho Paes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Claudinho Paes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Monteiro in the 44th minute of play. A collision led to Pubas getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Paulo da Fonseca hit a great ball. Claudinho Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo José Terra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frederico Abraão made a kick off. Paulo José Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Paes having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ubatinga SS's Luizinho Lira got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Paulo José Terra had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Claudinho Paes. Pubas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulo José Terra was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Luizinho Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luizinho Lira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Claudinho Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vicente Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frederico Abraão in the 71st minute of play forced Ubatinga SS's goalkeeper Fernando Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pubas's goalkeeper Claudinho Paes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Ubatinga SS's Thiago Recife seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Thiago Recife the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Ubatinga SS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Thiago Recife had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. If Sandrinho Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Ubatinga SS getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Clóvis Alcântara hit a great ball. 90 minutes into the match, Doriva Simão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fernando Peres. Ubatinga SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Doriva Simão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. 94 minutes into the game, Ubatinga SS's Luizinho Lira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claudinho Paes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3. When the referee blew the final whistle, Pubas could leave the field as winners, despite Ubatinga SS having more of the ball for most of the match.
