After 52 minutes, Fausto de Salles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Botafogo O mais Glorioso and the Auler players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fausto de Salles hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Cido de Queiroz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Auler's Adolfo Soares got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Botafogo O mais Glorioso's Duarte Xavier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Botafogo O mais Glorioso from getting a goal against them. When Cido de Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Auler fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cido de Queiroz couldn't finish the play. 71 minutes into the match, Auler's goal looked a bit too open when Caco Seco came free, but Felipe Urbano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitinho Silva in the 72nd minute of play forced Auler's goalkeeper Felipe Urbano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Vitinho Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botafogo O mais Glorioso's supporters rose to their feet, but Vitinho Silva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Felipe Urbano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Botafogo O mais Glorioso's Duarte Xavier got control of the ball when Cido de Queiroz tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Vitinho Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 98 minutes into the match, Botafogo O mais Glorioso's Caco Seco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felipe Urbano narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
