Geovanni Marinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Himalaia AD. If Cléberson Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 25th play minutes Lenílson de Salles shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Geovanni Marinho and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 30th minute Lenílson de Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovanni Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sertao's zone, Lenílson de Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovanni Marinho came out of the goal and Lenílson de Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 33 minutes into the match, Sertao's goal looked a bit too open when Cléberson Leão came free, but Geovanni Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Himalaia AD's Ramón de Godoi got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lenílson de Salles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Geovanni Marinho made a huge save. Lenílson de Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Geovanni Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cléberson Leão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geovanni Marinho having to make a save. Lenílson de Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Geovanni Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eusébio Monteiro was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes Sertao got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Soeiro. If Cléberson Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lenílson de Salles blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geovanni Marinho having to make a save. Geovanni Marinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lenílson de Salles's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. A collision led to Sertao getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Tostão Saraiva hit a great ball. Lenílson de Salles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Geovanni Marinho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play.
