Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) 6 minutes into the match, Maximo SS's goal looked a bit too open when Edson de Barros came free, but José Carlos Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 7 minutes into the game, Serginho Catarinense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maximo SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EspartaFC the free kick. Gilberto de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Carlos Brito having to interfere. After 11 played minutes Maximo SS got a freekick which was hit by Emílio Peres. Manuel de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Fantini in the 16th minute of play. EspartaFC's Edson de Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Maximo SS's Umberto da Cunha seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Umberto da Cunha the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Maximo SS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Umberto da Cunha had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Maximo SS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! José Carlos Brito went to the wrong direction when Raimundo Simões was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Gilberto de Alcântaras short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got José Carlos Brito to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jardel Quaresma hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. José Carlos Brito made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Gilberto de Alcântara sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Maximo SS getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Serginho Catarinense hit a great ball. Gilberto de Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Carlos Eduardo Lopes fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EspartaFC's protests and gave Carlos Eduardo Lopes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to EspartaFC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Carlos Eduardo Lopes hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the match, Gilberto de Alcântara notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Maximo SS's José Carlos Brito. José Carlos Brito was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 47th minute, Gilberto de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edson de Barros made a kick off. EspartaFC's Geovanni Abreu got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maximo SS's José Carlos Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson de Barros in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to Maximo SS getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Emanuel Leme hit a great ball. In the 59th minute Edson de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Carlos Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson de Barros in the 61st minute of play forced Maximo SS's goalkeeper José Carlos Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Serginho Catarinense took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Manuel de Mendonça to make any attempt to save it. Maximo SS's José Carlos Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson de Barros in the 69th minute of play. Gilberto de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bernardinho Branco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Carlos Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson de Barros in the 86th minute of play forced Maximo SS's goalkeeper José Carlos Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto de Alcântara in the 87th minute of play forced Maximo SS's goalkeeper José Carlos Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. EspartaFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Maximo SS for a fine match.
