In the 18th minute, Diego de Azevedo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of André Luiz Palmeira. The goal made the score 2-0. After 24 minutes of play, Avelar's Diego de Azevedo made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. André Luiz Palmeira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Raimundo Matos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erik Goiano kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Raimundo Matos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Gilvan Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raimundo Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Vieira having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 60th match minute, Avelar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vicente Abraão to maneuver through the defense. ECBahia's João Bueno got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Avelar booed when ECBahia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raimundo Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 69 minutes, Aírton Saraiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ECBahia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aírton Saraiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aírton Saraiva struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Gilvan Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ECBahia. In the 80th minute, Pedro Luís Dante sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and ECBahia's André Luiz Palmeira didn't even have to move. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Avelar's goalkeeper Gilvan Vieira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Aírton Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the game, Avelar's Gabriel Peres nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. André Luiz Palmeira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0.
