With a left leg José Paulo Mello saved Itupeva AD from getting behind. A collision led to Itupeva AD getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Edmílson Mota hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Ramiro Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itupeva AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramiro Varela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Túlio Linhares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dudu Amaral had several of the Itupeva AD's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 12 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed José Paulo Mello as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 21st match minute, Sapucaial was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aluísio Carioca to maneuver through the defense. Dudu Amaral took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Paulo Mello. José Paulo Mello dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Dudu Amaral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Paulo Mello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Léo Soeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo Mello having to interfere. Itupeva AD's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Léo Soeiro scored to the left of an out of position José Paulo Mello, making the score, 3-0. Léo Soeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sapucaial fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty!
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Léo Soeiro to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Sapucaial's zone, Ramiro Varela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Túlio Linhares came out of the goal and Ramiro Varela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Sapucaial getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Aleandro Paes hit a great ball. In the 58th minute of the match, Gilmar Ramos got a very nice opportunity to score, but Túlio Linhares was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. José Paulo Mello was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Aleandro Paes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo Mello having to interfere. Itupeva AD's José Paulo Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Soeiro in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rdth minute of the game Léo Soeiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itupeva AD's José Paulo Mello was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 76th match minute, Sapucaial was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcinho Tande to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 77 minutes, Jacinto de Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itupeva AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacinto de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Léo Soeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Paulo Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcinho Tande, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Sapucaial's goalkeeper Túlio Linhares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilmar Ramos. Léo Soeiro took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Paulo Mello. José Paulo Mello dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. In the 93rd match minute, Itupeva AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo Braga to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute, Léo Soeiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Itupeva AD's Jacinto de Queiroz got a free kick in the 97th minute. After 99 minutes, Aleandro Paes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sapucaial and the Itupeva AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 99th minute, Aleandro Paes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sapucaial had played much better football throughout.
