Gerson Freire's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldinho França read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to Piria getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. João Adolfo da Silva hit a great ball. 35 minutes into the match, Piria's goal looked a bit too open when Romário Quirino came free, but Ronaldinho França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
