In the 19th match minute, Cauarru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho Mazza to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute, Teodoro Paraíba sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Cauarru's Juarês Lima didn't even have to move. Grossas's Rubinho Machado got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 30 minutes, Adelino Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grossas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. César Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 34th minute of the match Jonas Brito shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Percy Torres showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Cauarru booed when Grossas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor de Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Cauarru getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Jorge Pernambucano hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rubinho Machado to make the kick off. Álvaro Ramalho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Percy Torres made a huge save. Percy Torres was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alberto Paraense showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 53 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Álvaro Ramalho got free with Percy Torres in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 69thth minute of the game Adelino Lima who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cauarru's Juarês Lima was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Percy Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Paraense in the 79th minute of the match. After having played for 81 minutes, Alberto Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cauarru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Paraense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
