To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brasil Pelotas's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Chiquinho Moura in the 14th minute. André Luís Gaúcho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 29 minutes into the match, Brasil Pelotas's goalkeeper Gilberto Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sandrinho Pimenta. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Orlando Lago put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Nelson Neves. The audience was convinced that André Luís Gaúcho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto Barros was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Nelson Neves was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Orlando Lago capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Orlando Lago really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. In the 93rd minute, Orlando Lago reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nelson Neves. The goal made the score 1-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Brasil Pelotas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
